What is Reiki?
Pronounced ray-key, meaning 'universal life energy', Reiki is a Japanese system of healing. It was developed in the early 20th century by a Japanese monk called Dr Mikao Usui. Reiki healing promotes well-being by rebalancing your energy to create a deep sense of relaxation and peace. It is a powerful yet gentle healing tool which is natural and pure. Reiki energy is conducted from the giver to the receiver stimulating the body's natural capacity to heal and assisting the body in coming into better balance. It can be used alone or with other treatments.
What is Reiki helpful for?
Reiki is ideal for treating all kinds of physical and emotional difficulties. It's great for managing your stress and maintaining your health. It is ideal for anyone who is stressed and in need of relaxation, rejuvenation and energetic refreshment. It is excellent for soothing pain and aids healing from injury or operation. Reiki can also help individuals gain a greater awareness of their own energy and support spiritual and emotional growth. Reiki aids toxin elimination and the release of stress, promoting a deep sense of relaxation.
What to expect during your treatment.
Reiki sessions take place fully clothed whilst you are lying on a couch or seated in a comfortable position. The length of your treatment will normally be 1 hour including any progress reviews. Your initial session will include a consultation to gather information about your health. The practitioner places their hands gently on or just above your body in various positions, gently working with Reiki. You may experience feelings of heat, coolness, tingling, or simply a deep sense of relaxation. Physical problems can sometimes be manifestations of emotional problems and those who experience Reiki may therefore also feel emotional release. Your body will take the Reiki energy and use it where it is most needed, and you will naturally stop receiving when your body has taken in all that it needs.
Sometimes profound benefits are experienced after only a few sessions but a longer course of treatment may be beneficial for more established problems. Reiki sessions can also be used on a regular basis to help maintain good health or to balance ongoing stress or illnesses.
I incorporate Reiki within my Applied Energy Flow treatments.
